This Privacy Policy describes how Play Hand and Foot (playhandandfoot.com) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and multiplayer card game (the “Service”).

We designed the Service to use only what we need to run games, process payments, and keep accounts working. We do not use advertising trackers or sell your personal information.

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:

  • Account and table identity — display name and email address you enter so you can create or join a table, rejoin a game, and receive a one-time verification code on a new device.
  • Device identifier — a random id stored in your browser (and a first-party cookie) so we can remember that an email was verified on that device for free-game limits and host access.
  • Game data — room codes, seats, hands and table state as needed to run and save games, scores, host preferences, free-game usage, and optional video-round usage for the free trial.
  • Subscription and billing status — whether you have an active plan and related account flags. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications — emails we send (for example, verification codes) and any messages you send us for support.
  • Technical logs — standard server logs (such as IP address, timestamps, and error diagnostics) used for security, reliability, and debugging.
  • Optional video and audio — if you turn on camera or microphone, media is processed so other players at your table can see and hear you. Video is optional; you can mute or leave video at any time.

3. How we use information

  • Operate multiplayer games, seats, saves, and rule enforcement.
  • Verify email on a device and apply free-trial and subscription access.
  • Process subscriptions and prevent abuse or fraud.
  • Provide optional in-game video chat at your table.
  • Improve reliability and fix bugs.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your data for third-party advertising profiles or cross-site tracking.

4. Cookies and similar storage

We use essential, first-party cookies and browser storage only. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies that track you across other sites.

  • Profile cookie / local storage — remembers the name and email you entered so you do not retype them every visit, and so Safari and an installed Home Screen app on the same device can share that identity.
  • Device id cookie / local storage — a random id used with email verification and free-game / host limits on that device (kept up to about 400 days).
  • Local preferences — for example hand-sort order and host options (local storage only).
  • Session storage — temporary data so you can rejoin the table in the current browser tab.

These are needed to provide the Service you request (play, rejoin, verify device). If you block cookies, some features (especially on iOS Home Screen apps) may work less reliably; you can still clear site data in your browser settings at any time.

5. Who we share information with

We share data only as needed to run the Service:

  • Stripe — payment processing when you subscribe. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment data they process.
  • Email delivery — to send verification codes and transactional mail.
  • Hosting infrastructure — servers that run the game and, when you use video, our video service (currently self-hosted LiveKit for WebRTC).
  • Other players at your table — your display name and, if you enable them, your camera and microphone streams to people in the same game.
  • Legal or safety — if required by law or to protect rights, security, or integrity of the Service.

We do not sell personal information and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly used under U.S. state privacy laws.

6. Video chat

Video is optional. When enabled, audio/video is transmitted so participants at the same table can communicate. Do not share sensitive information on camera or mic that you would not want others at the table to see or hear. We do not use your video for advertising.

7. Retention

We keep account, game, and billing-related records for as long as needed to provide the Service, honor subscriptions, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Device validation and browser cookies expire or can be cleared as described above. Server logs are kept for a limited operational period unless needed longer for security investigations.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (including HTTPS and access controls on production systems). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. Your choices and rights

  • You may clear cookies and site data in your browser.
  • You may leave a table, turn off camera/mic, or stop using the Service.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. Email support@mydreamcookbook.com with your request. We may need to verify that the request relates to the email on the account.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may still contact us for access or deletion requests.

11. International users

Our servers may be located in the United States or other countries. If you use the Service from elsewhere, you understand that information may be processed in the country where our infrastructure runs.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
